Fiona Bell is a writer and literary translator from St. Petersburg, Florida. Her cultural criticism and humor writings have appeared in The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Asymptote Magazine, Literary Hub, and elsewhere. She is a reviews editor at Full Stop.
Her literary translations from Russian include Nataliya Meshchaninova’s Stories of a Life (Deep Vellum Press, 2022), the short fiction of Belarusian writer Tatsiana Zamirovskaya, and the first novel of nineteenth-century writer Avdotya Panaeva (Columbia University Press, 2024).
As a playwright, director, and clown, Fiona brings physical theater practices to her scholarship and teaching. She currently lives in New Haven, Connecticut, where she is earning a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures at Yale University. She can be reached at fiona.ina.bell@gmail.com.
